Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Little Red Riding Hood. She lived with her mother in a small village surrounded by dense woods. One day, her mother asked her to take some delicious cakes and a bottle of wine to her grandmother who lived on the other side of the forest.
"Be careful as you walk through the woods," said her mother. "Don't talk to strangers and stay on the path."
Little Red Riding Hood promised to be careful and set off on her journey. As she walked along the path, she came across a friendly wolf. The wolf greeted her and asked where she was going.
"I'm taking these cakes and wine to my grandmother who lives over yonder," replied Little Red Riding Hood.
The wolf thought for a moment and then suggested that they each go their own way, with him going one route and her another. He told her not to dawdle and to hurry along so she could arrive safely.
After parting ways, the wolf took a shortcut through the woods and arrived at the grandmother's house before Little Red Riding Hood did. He knocked on the door, and when the grandmother opened it, he barged inside and swallowed her whole!
Then, he climbed into her bed, waiting for Little Red Riding Hood to arrive. When she finally reached the house, she noticed something odd about her grandmother. Her voice sounded strange, and she seemed much larger than usual.
"Goodness, what big ears you have!" said Little Red Riding Hood.
"All the better to hear you with, my dear," replied the wolf.
"What big eyes you have!"
"All the better to see you with, my child."
"What big teeth you have!"
"All the better to eat you with!" cried the wolf, leaping out of the bed to chase after Little Red Riding Hood.
Just as the wolf was about to catch her, a woodsman passing by heard her cries for help. He rushed into the house and saved Little Red Riding Hood just in time. The wolf was caught and punished for his misdeeds.
From that day on, Little Red Riding Hood learned never to stray from the path or trust strangers too easily. And she made sure to always listen to her mother's advice.
And they all lived happily ever after.
